At Cornerstone, we place a very high emphasis on Christian Education. In this day and time, now more than ever, it is vital that we teach our children the importance of worship and Bible Study. Education, Worship, Discipleship, and Evangelism are As a result of this high regard in teaching children about Jesus, we participate in the following children's ministries.
Sunday School - Education
We still believe in the importance of Sunday School and the foundational instruction in the Christian faith it brings. Learning about God's love and His Son Jesus Christ is a primary emphasis in our teaching. Our Children's Sunday school takes place in the Education Building on the church property at 9:20 a.m. on Sunday mornings and is divided into four classes: the Little Followers class is for children ages 2 and 3 years old, the Caterpillars is for ages 4 through Kindergarten, the Crusaders is for those children in the 1st through 3rd grades, and the Cross Seekers class is for those children in the 4th through 6th grade.
Children's Church - Worship
Is held during the 10:30 a.m. worship service time and takes place in the Cornerstone Education Building. After an initial time of joint praise and worship with the parents, the children, ages 2 years through 4th grade are dismissed to take part in a worship service experinece designed especially for them.
AWANA - Discipleship
Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed clubs take place at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday evenings at two different locations. AWANA is a wonderful program that includes Bible verse memorization, specific AWANA games, and Counsel time when everyone comes together to celebrate the accomplishments of the past week and to hear a brief devotion. Our Puggles, ages 2 and 3 years old, and Cubbies, ages 3 and 4 years (3 by Sept 1) meet in the Cornerstone Education building. Our Sparks, Kindergarten through 2nd grade, and T&T Club for 3rd through 6th grade, meet at the Kit Carson Elementary School Cafeteria, located approximately two miles from the church.
Vacation Bible School - Evangelism
In the summer, we experience one of the greatest weeks possible through our Vactation Bible School. At Cornerstone, we look at VBS as an intense week of outreach and evangelism. While we have a great time playing games and singing songs, we emphasize the need for children of all ages to make a personal decision to follow Jesus as their Lord and Savior. God has blessed us with some powerful experiences over the past several years as we have seen many children make eternal life changing decisions for Jesus.
